Appel Money Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026 · Last updated: October 13, 2026 (AI features section added)

Appel Money uses personal and financial information only to provide the features a user chooses to use.

Information we may process

Why we process it

To display financial information, budgeting and planning tools, detect/reconcile financial evidence, secure accounts, provide support, and execute user-authorized services.

User control

A user controls which sources are connected and may revoke a connector. Appel Money does not sell personal data or make raw user financial data available to advertisers.

Money movement

Recommendations do not equal authorization. A real transfer may be submitted only after the user explicitly authorizes the movement and required security checks succeed.

Data sharing

Data may be disclosed only to service providers necessary to operate the service, payment/financial providers selected for requested functionality, or when legally required. Providers receive only what is necessary for the service. Our AI provider is Meta Model API, which processes a limited set of a user’s financial records only when that user uses an AI feature (see “AI features” below). Meta is bound by contract to use that data only to provide the AI service to us, and does not use data sent through the API to train its models.

AI features

Appel Money’s AI features (the Money Brief, answers about your accounts, and explanations of exceptions) are optional and off by default. They turn on only if you enable them, and you can turn them off at any time. Turning them off stops all AI processing of your data immediately.

When an AI feature runs for you, we send Meta Model API the minimum records that specific answer needs — figures and records from your own workspace only (for example, the reconciled amounts behind your Safe-to-Spend number, or the bill and transaction an exception is about). By design:

Meta processes what we send automatically and returns the generated text to us for display to you. Under our paid API agreement, Meta does not use API data to train its models. AI features are not yet active on member accounts. We have requested Zero Data Retention from Meta for our organization, and AI features will not process member financial data until Meta confirms that enablement is in place. We will update this policy when that confirmation is received.

The AI does not have access to your workspace and cannot browse your accounts. It receives only the records included in a specific request, explains them, and nothing more. It cannot move money, create bills, or change anything in your account.

Processing by the providers named in this policy is automated — done by machines under contract, on our instructions, for you. It does not give any person at those companies a view into your financial life.

Retention/deletion

Authentication/security and legally required audit records may have different retention periods from user-generated data. Users may request deletion of their data as described in our deletion and retention policy.

Security

We apply industry-standard safeguards to protect personal and financial information, including encryption in transit and access controls. Details are maintained in our internal security documentation.
